50/50 winner at the April PCARS meeting

There's been some confusion as to who was the actual winner of the 50/50 drawing at the April 8 PCARS meeting.  If you were the winner, or can state with certainty who the winner was, would you please contact me at    wb8lcd@portcars.org  to let me know?

Thanks,

Marathon volunteers still needed

To all PCARS members –

The Cleveland Marathon, May 19th, is less than a month away and we still need more volunteers.  If you are considering volunteering, please don’t wait till the last minute since that complicates making assignments.

We all know now just how important it is to have skilled communicators on a marathon course who can enhance event security, assist with participant and spectator safety, and quickly transition to supportive communications should disaster strike.

Please consider volunteering even if you are new to special event communications.  We can provide training as well as an assignment that matches your skill level.

If you would like to help or have any questions, please send me a note at aylwardjim@aol.com.  I hope to hear from you.

Net Night at the Club Site

Thursday, April 25th, is the 4th Thursday of the month.  That means "Net Night" at the club site.  We'll open up around 6:30pm and close up around 10:00pm.  Everyone on site will have a chance to check into the ARES and PCARS nets.

Also, we'll be having our first ever PCARS "fishing derby".  C'mon out and get on the air!  The fishing derby winner will receive 10 50/50 tickets for the May meetings raffle.  Mike, KB8TUY, has promised to fire up the popcorn machine.

Tuesday night digital net.

That 4th Tuesday of the month is already here, and so comes the Tuesday Night Digital Net.   If you have an interest in digital operations or wonder what all that noise is on the repeater,  check in and ask some questions.   Digital operations are easy as ever to get into and much of it is “ham priced”…. free!  Come join us on the net.  The net will open on the 146.895 repeater at 7:30pm EDT on Tuesday 4/23.

QSL presentation (April 20th) Information

Hello PCARS members,

The "QSLing in 2013" presentation went very well today (Saturday, April 20th) at the club site. Thanks to all that attended. I hope you learned a thing or two that will help you in getting those QSL cards in the mail.

As requested, I uploaded to the PCARS Yahoo site, the PDF presentation – it can be found in the Files Area under Presentations. You'll find 4 PDF files. I had to break it up into 4 parts due the the file limitations set by Yahoo (sorry about that).

Also, if you look in the area called DX Code of Conduct, you'll find the PDF file that has a single sheet with the DX Code of Conduct on it. There is also a text file in that area that will give you the link (or just use this link  http://youtu.be/BXOhjaWZeRk) to view the humorous video showing Spock referring to the DX Code of conduct.

Take care & 73,

Tom, KB8UUZ
