DX/Contesting Sig

Just to be on the safe side, we have decided to postpone the SIG for tonight due to the heavy snow being forecast for Portage and Geauga, as well as several other counties.  WE may be lucky and have it miss us, but we do not want a group of people out and about and find that the drive back home is a white knuckle event.  So stay safe and stay at home this evening.

DX / Contest Special Interest Group

The DX/Contest Sig will have it's meeting at 7PM tomorrow evening at the club site (WX permitting). As I understand it, there may be some heavy snow coming our way so don't take any risks getting to a PCARS SIG meeting.  We'd rather have you safe and seeing you in your shacks working DX and not in the emergency room somewhere.

We will be looking at what will be happening DXwise during December and possibly January.  We will also be discussing FYAO scheduled for Feb. 15, 2014.

All are invited so if you are available and the WX cooperates, please join us.

Antenna Special Interest Group

The Antenna Special Interest Group will be meeting Tuesday, 11/19/2013, at the Club Site. The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm. All PCARS members are invited to attend. If you are considering building a new antenna/antenna system at your QTH please feel free to stop in and discuss your plans with the group.
This month the two special topics will be (1) the design and construction of Moxon “beam” antennas for VHF and UHF applications and (2) the design of a stealth HF loop antenna at the Arizona QTH of Jim WA8OSS.
I have built and tested two UHF Moxon antenna’s: a two element design (>5 dbi gain), a three element (>7 dbi gain) which have worked well on both transmit and receive, and I am working on a stacked 3 element design (~15 dbi gain).  The Moxon is smaller than an equivalent Yagi with similar gain, an interesting antenna.
The stealth loop that WA8OSS wants to build in Arizona has some presents some unique problems and I would like to get input from the group before I help him finalize the design of his antenna.

As always, the floor will be open for discussion of any antenna topic by members attending the meeting.
Or…..just come hang out for a while!!!
See you all there!
Tony WA8AR
