PCARS Field Day

Today was the deadline for FD submissions to the ARRL.  I want to assure you that our submission was made in a timely manner.
Our total claimed score is 9520.  That's down 6 points from last year when our "official" score was 9526.  That's only 6 points, but, there is one bonus of 100 points we've applied for that could be ruled against us.  That would drop us to 9420.  We'll have to wait till October for the official ruling on that.  Last year, 9526 points put us at #52 overall, we'll just have to wait to see where we come in this year.

Individual Station totals are as follows:
40 Meter Station    –   1353 Q's
CW Station             –    904 Q's
20 Meter Station    –     615 Q's

Flex Station            –     186 Q's
GOTA Station        –        47 Q's
VHF Station           –        42 Q's
Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make the PCARS Field Day a success.

Watch for an announcement shortly regarding a pre-planning meeting for next year.
73 to all,

PCARS Thursday Night Net

How about checking into the net this week?  Last week, first time ever PCARS NCS Brian – N8ZPS – scored over 30 check-ins!
This week John – KB8UHN – is looking to do that and better!  The net starts at 8:00PM (local), on the K8IV repeater, with a PL tone of 110.9.

I'm not for certain, BUT, this could be your last check in via the temporary system at the club-site, or, it could possibly be your first check in via the new and improved K8IV repeater system!  It could go either way, so don't hold me to anything, but I know Ed has been working on the finishing touches, so either way, it won't be too  much longer…………I hope to be checking in via Echo-Link from the San Francisco area.  No guarantee on that either…..

Ohio QSO Party

Since I had to correct the time listed when the contest would take place, I thought I would include a brief review of the more salient points of the Rules.

Objective:  For Amateurs inside the state of Ohio to make contact with as many Amateurs as possible both inside and outside of Ohio.  For Amateurs outside the state of Ohio to make contact with as many Ohio stations as possible.  Non-Ohio stations may work only Ohio stations, while Ohio stations may contact anyone.

Period:  The Ohio QSO Party occurs on the fourth Saturday of August.  The contest period extends from 1200 EDT (Noon) to 2400 EDT (Midnight) (1600UTC Saturday until 0400UTC Sunday).  All stations may operate the full twelve hours.

Bands & Modes:  CW and SSB on 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meters.  More on this later.
Category:  K8BF would be entering as a Multi-Op entry.
We will be covering the complete rules during our OQP meeting.

So for now….

Ohio QSO Party

The Ohio QSO Party will be held Aug 23 0400UTC to Aug 24 0400UTC.  As in years past, K8BF has taken part in this contest.  We are again planning to have the station on the air.

Please let me know by email if you plan to participate in the on air operations from the club site.

We will have a meeting prior to the contest date to review the Rules of this contest.  Since we only have two antennas available to us at this time, we will only be using two operating positions. But this will be a subject of discussion at our meeting. The date of this meeting will be announced shortly.
