PCARS has a new place for its monthly meetings! Starting in February we’ll be meeting at the American Legion Post 496 in Kent. The Post is located on the southeast corner of State Route 261 and Mogadore Rd., and the address is 1945 Mogadore Rd., Kent, OH. The driveway is on the south side of the building and as you enter you will pass through a parking lot on the south side of the building. Please do not park in this lot but instead continue on to the parking lot on the east side of the building which is the near the rear entrance into the Post’s ‘Canteen’. As you enter the post from this entrance you’ll see a bar to the left and a dining area to the right. The meeting area we’ll be in is on the right, to the rear of the dining area.
Tom WB8LCD, Tony WA8AR, Mark K8MSH, Ed K8IV and I met there yesterday late afternoon to look over the facility and to talk to the manager. All five of us agreed that the Post would make an excellent meeting place for our monthly meetings, and the staff of Post 496 are excited to have us there.
The menu consists of your basic burger-dog-chicken sandwiches, fries and onion rings, wings, and salads. There is also an appetizer selection as well. Menu pricing is more in line with what you’d expect from a fast food restaurant and is considerably less than what we’ve been paying. Adult beverages are available and costs are in line with what you would expect at most bar-restaurant facilities. If you are a member of the American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of American Legion, make sure you bring your ID card as you get a substantial discount on adult beverage pricing.
All in all I think everyone will enjoy the new venue and I want to invite all of you to check it out. Stay tuned for a reminder QST e-mail that will announce our program for our first meeting there on Monday February 9th at 7:00 PM, and it will also have a map attachment. Feel free to come early and have dinner and share some time with your fellow PCARS members.
We did not have time to get the full scoop into the newsletter though I did ask Mark to use his smart phone to get the announcement to Parky, so please make sure you spread the word to everyone. Hoping to see as many of you as possible at the meeting!
