Amateur Radio Roundtable

Amateur Radio Roundtable

Subject: Amateur Radio Saves Humanity – Sept 1

This week’s guest on W5KUB.com’s Amateur Radio Roundtable will be Dale Winther, W6PDL from Coarsegold, California.  Dale has been licensed since the mid-sixties and has some interesting stories about his 160 meter AM days as a teenager. Dale will also share his story about the time he used a ham radio auto-patch from an airplane when the aircraft radios stopped working.  Hear his story what he had to do before the air traffic controllers would believe him. He will also discuss an interesting career in Pasadena at the famous Jet Propulsion Laboratory.  Also, Dale is an author of a ham radio fiction book entitled, “The Brotherhood of the Beast” which is about ham radio saving humanity from a global tyranny.

Also this week we start a new roundtable segment called “Ask Riley”.  Riley Hollingsworth, K4ZDH and former FCC Special Counsel for Enforcement in Amateur Radio, will be available to answer your questions.  Send your questions to askriley@w5kub.com for discussion in the program.  The phone lines may also be available for questions. Depending on Riley’s schedule, we plan to include this segment every other week.

Amateur Radio Roundtable, is a live weekly amateur radio webcast and simulcasted shortwave program, held every Tuesday night at 8 PM CDT (0100 UTC Wednesday).  The show can viewed at W5KUB.com or heard on shortwave radio station, WTWW on 5085 KHz.  Tom Medlin, W5KUB, is joined by co-host Ted Randall, WB8PUM, from the QSO Radio Show.  The show covers a wide range of topics for ham radio operators, shortwave listeners, and electronic hobbyists; including balloon launches, Satellite, go-kits, emergency communications, SDR, digital modes, DXing, home brewing, and more.

As a matter of fact some operators will leave the main land for 3-4 days and with two stations and a couple of antennas they will try to give the reference to many Iota chasers as possible.

Of course the rest of the team (19 skilled dx operators coming from 9 Countries)

According to the evaluations that they have done, they are confident to give to a lot of dxers the possibility to work this Country in the Low bands, Warc and especially in the Digis modes.

Quite a bit of the equipment and antennas are ready for the new adventure of MDXC team.
All the licenses are in hands of Ant and Gab and all has been already arranged (boat, generators, contacts etc) for the transfert on  Cham Island AS-162.
Save the dates and keep ears open, because the call sign for the Iota operations of the team will be 3W3MD/P
