Tuesday digital net

concerning the earlier announcement about this evening’s HF digital net, I forgot to add that it is only open to General and above class licensees because it is on 80 meters. At some point in the future I will try and schedule a net on 10 meters to see if it will work locally so that we can include Technician class licensees. Also for the Novice and Tech class licensees, don’t forget that we’ll be holding a General Class upgrade course shortly after the first of the year.

Tuesday digital net

Per our discussion at this month’s Digital SIG and with Steve K8SRR blessing we are going to start conducting the second monthly digital net (fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM local) on HF instead of through the K8IV repeater.
The net this evening will open using PSK-31 on 3.584 MHz with an alternate of 3.585 Mhz, set cursor on your waterfall to 1500 Hz.
Attached to this e-mail is a short training document on HF Digital communications. It is not any any way all inclusive but was meant to provide some basics to help you be able to participate this evening. We will be adding information as our skills improve. Because most everyone is local, try and use an antenna with good NVIS characteristics.
If you are not able to successfully communicate in this net, please make note of the issues you seem to be having and you can e-mail them to me, or bring them to the next Digtal SIG meeting and we’ll try to address them. It is my intention to make this a regularly scheduled net if there is enough participation.
Most importantly, please don’t let not having done this before cause you not to participate. The entire mission of this net is to teach so that participants will gain experience and enjoy digital operations on HF.
