Thursday Night PCARS 2 Meter Net

Tomorrow night (Thursday) is the weekly PCARS net!  Stop in and say Hello.  I'm hoping to finish up 2016 with a BANG###!  But, to do that we need you to check in.  If you haven't been a regular, maybe now's the time to work on that 10 in a row Net certificate.  Find out about all the things PCARS has going in the next couple of months.  No world series, no basketball playoffs, definitely no football, no debates, the election is over – there is absolutely no good reason for not being on the net!  Don't make me come and get you!

PCARS Christmas dinner meeting

Our 2016 PCARS Christmas Dinner meeting will be held on Monday, December 12th, 2016. (Our regular meeting night)  The dinner will take place at the American Legion Hall in Kent (Our regular meeting place) and the dinner will be catered by the Little City Grill of Kent (Same as last year).  Dinner will be served promptly at 7:00 PM, so please try to arrive on time, or maybe even a little early!
The cost of the dinner will be $19.00 per plate and will include a dinner salad, roll and butter, potato and your choice of chicken or prime rib.  Beverages will be ala carte from the canteen, and I'm asking everyone to bring a small plate of Christmas cookies to share for our dessert.
Important: I'll need your reservation and payment no later than Wednesday, December 7th so I can make the final order with Little City Grill.  You can mail your payment to me at:  Tom Sly, 1480 Lake Martin Dr., Kent, OH  44240, please make your check payable to PCARS.  If you prefer to pay with cash, please give me a call to make arrangements to meet prior to the 7th.  I'll also need to know the entrée choice for each dinner reservation made.
After dinner we will have the PCARS gift exchange!  Please bring a ten dollar gift and mark it for a HAM or NON-HAM.  (Non-ham gifts should be gender neutral)  If you are bringing children, please bring a special gift for them, and mark your child's name on the gift so we can make sure it gets to him/her.
I truly hope that you will attend along with your spouse or "significant other".  This is designed to be a "family friendly" meeting and give us all a chance to share in the fellowship of the Christmas Season.

Clarification on PCARS Dues paid by PAYPAL

Your PCARS dues are due prior to January 1, 2017.
On page 21 of the current PCARS newsletter is a screenshot showing that you can pay your PCARS dues online via PAYPAL.  In the screenshot it shows that the regular dues are $20.88.  The actual amount, and the amount that will show up when you go to pay online is $20.91.  This was due to a recent change in the service fee percentage that PAYPAL charges us to offer this service.  I don't want anyone to be confused by the discrepancy.

Amateur Radio Parity Act – Help is Needed NOW

Dear Great Lakes Division ham,

We are getting close and there are only three weeks left in this congressional session.  We need your help in making this happen now. NOW!!    The Amateur Radio Parity Act needs to pass in the Senate.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO GET INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS!

This is sooooo easy:   Help us in the effort.  Please go to this linked website and follow the prompts:

https://arrl.rallycongress.net/ctas/urge-senate-to-support-amateur-radio-parity-act

You are one of over 730,000 licensed Amateur Radio Operators living in the United States.  Many of you already live in deed-restricted communities and that number grows daily.   If you want to have effective outdoor antennas but are not currently allowed to do so by your Home Owner’s Association, SEND THESE EMAILS TODAY!!

If you want to preserve your ability to install effective outdoor antennas on property that you own, SEND THESE EMAILS TODAY!!

Even if you already have outdoor antennas, but want to support your fellow hams, SEND THESE EMAILS TODAY!!

Let me put it this way:  Current rules require HOAs to allow TV receive antennas and TVRO satellite dishes while a ham cannot even install a tiny UHF ground plane antenna.  We are simply asking for some PARITY, to allow an effective amateur radio antenna.

We need you to reach out to your Senators TODAY!  Right away.

Thank you.

73,

Dale Williams WA8EFK
