Freeze Your Acorns Off 2017

Continuing to remind all PCARS members and friends that on Saturday, Feb. 11, we will be hosting our 12th Annual QRP event – Freeze Your Acorns Off. he event will take place at the Roy Smith Shelter House in Fred Fuller Park in Kent.
The contest starts at 15:00UTC (10AM local) and goes until 21:00UTC (4PM  local). Those who will be setting up stations should arrive early enough (no later than 9AM), not only to set up your station, but have time to attend our rules review (very important).
We will also be hosting our Best Recipe Cook Off. So you amateur chefs should dust off your aprons and spatulas and get busy whipping up something delicious.
I hope to see many, many PCARS members and friends of PCARS attending.
Till then,

K8IV Repeater

For those of you who have had a hard time getting into the repeater, you now have another option.  Ed has set up a second receive site at my QTH in Sugarbush Knolls.  The input to this site requires a PL tone of 118.8.  For those of you to the north or the west, this may be a better option for you.  Give it a try, then let me know how it works for you.

While this is a temporary patch, it may help you checking into the local nets, and with casual operation.  Ultimately, the K8IV repeater will become a single-site repeater where the transmitter is located now at the KSU library.  We hope this patch helps keep you on the repeater until it can be converted to single site operations.
With thanks to Ed – K8IV –  for the tremendous amount of upkeep and maintenance he has done, and for his generous support of PCARS for allowing us to use the repeater system for all of our club operations and Portage County EmComm operations.
