DX/Contest SIG Tomorrow at 7PM

This is just another reminder all PCARS DXers and Contesters that the DX/Contest Special Interest Group meeting will be held tomorrow evening, Mar. 27, at the club site at 7PM.
We do have a contest coming up in April and since this will be the first time we wll put K8BF on the air in this contest, we will briefly review the rules. The contest is the Florida QSO Party that takes place the weekend of April 28-29.
We will also look at any upcoming RTTY contests since our RTTY mentor, George, K3GP, has made a good point of not wanting anyone who worked the last RTTY contest from K8BF to lose what they may have learned.
So come on out and have some fun and good discussion with your fellow PCARS members.
See you tomorrow evening.

DX/Contest SIG Tuesday 3/27 at 7PM

It’s time to remind all PCARS DXers and Contesters that the DX/Contest Special Interest Group meeting will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 27, at the club site at 7PM.
We do have a contest coming up in April and since this will be the first time we wll put K8BF on the air in this contest, we will be briefly reviewing the rules. The contest is the Florida QSO Party that takes place the weekend of April 28-29.
For one thing, this contest has two operating periods. Saturday the 28th, the contest starts at Noon local time and ends the same evening at 9:59PM. Then on Sunday, the 29th, it starts again at 8AM local time and goes until 5:59PM. So we can be on the air for 20 hours and still everyone can get a good night’s rest. What a great idea!
Joe, W8KNO, has had a lot of experience working this contest and we can certainly rely on his knowledge. Since Joe has won many awards working this contest, he may want to continue to operate his own station during the contest, but we can still use his input on how we can make a great showing as a club entry in teh Multi-Multi, Low Power category.
We will also discuss any upcoming RTTY cotnests since our RTTY mentor, George, K3GP, has made a good point of not wanting anyone who worked the last RTTY contest from K8BF to lose what they may have learned.
So come on out and have some fun and good discussion with your fellow PCARS members.
Until then,
73 – Chuck W8PT
PCARS Contest Coordinator

PCARS Contests from the Club Site this weekend

Greetings PCARS members:
This coming weekend, Mar. 10-11, PCARS will be putting K8BF on the air in two QSO parties. The first is the Idaho QSO Party. This takes place starting on Saturday at 1900Z and ends on Sunday at 1900Z. (2PM Saturday until 3PM Sunday) It’s a 24 hr contest but since we change from Standard time to Daylight savings time, it appears to be a 25 hr contest.
We know that there are not a lot of amateurs stations located in Idaho, so as in years past, we only participate on Saturday. We have done well in this contest, and we want to keep the string going. We will gather starting around Noon on Saturday, so come on out and help your fellow members.
On Sunday we will participate in the Wisconsin QSO Party. It starts at 2PM local time and goes until 9PM. We again will gather at Noon at the club site. We have done very well in this contest and look forward to another good performance.
In both contests we will be entering as a a multi-multi station. This means that we will have several of our operator positions on the air so there will be ample opportunities for you to get some chair time and work the contests.
I hope to see many PCARS members take this opportunity to, not only help K8BF make a good showing, but to take advantage of our club site and get on the air.
Come on out and help us all to have Big Fun.
