NE QSO Party

PCARS Contesters:

Here’s another chance for you to work a QSO party at a somewhat leasurely pace.

We will be putting K8BF on the air in the New England QSO Party this coming weekend (May 5-6).

The contest runs from 4PM local time on Saturday until 8PM on Sunday. But here again just as in the Florida QSO Party, we have a break to get some sleep. So the actual operating hours are: 4PM Satuday until 1AM Sunday morning. Then we break until 9AM Sunday and go until 8PM Sunday evening. This gives us time to catch some sleep.

We will be entering as a Multi-Multi, Low Power contestant.
I have been in communication with the contest host and they say they do not get many multi-multi entries at all. Sounds to me like a possible #1 for K8BF again.

So come on out to the club site and have BIG FUN helping K8BF reach another Number 1 spot in a contest.

We will gather at 3PM on Saturday at the club site to review rules. See you there.

Florida QSO Party This Weekend – April 28-29

Hello PCARS:

Saturday, April 28, at Noon, K8BF will go on the air participating in the 2018 Florida QSO Party. This is a two day event starting, as mentioned, at Noon on Saturday and ending at 6PM local time on Sunday. One of the differences in this contest is that the organizers arrange for an 10 hour break between 10PM Saturday night until 8AM Sunday morning. That’s so contesters can get some sleep.
Those of you who would like to help us make our very first splash into this contest should be at the club site around 11AM Saturday morning.
We will make sure that everyone knows the rules.
The nice thing about state QSO parties is that they are not so hectic and you can take your time making contacts. Florida should be fairly easy for us to have good propagation from Ohio. So I’m looking for a good showing from K8BF.
Come on out even if you don’t think you want to operate, but simply want to see what’s going on. I bet you’ll end up sitting in one of the ops chairs having BIG FUN.
See you there.

Net Night at the Club Site

Tomorrow!  Thursday April 26, come on out to the club site to celebrate our earning the title of Hamvention Club of the Year!  (That's right, we didn't win it – we EARNED it!)
The doors will open at 6:30PM until 10:30PM.  Stop out and check into the net! Amy – KD8SKL will be running the net from the club site.  Even if you can't attend in person, please attend by checking in with your comments.
We'll take some donations and order pizza, there will be cake and ice-cream, along with soft drinks and other beverages.  After the net, Tom – WB8LCD will provide a short presentation on the beginnings of PCARS and some of the things that make it worthy of the title "Hamvention Club of the Year".
Hope to see you there,

PCARS Net Night at the Clubsite – April Edition

Next week, on Thursday April 26th, it's once again Net Night at the Club Site!
Our April net night will be a celebration of PCARS being awarded the Hamvention "Club of the Year" award.  We will order some pizzas ( any small donations would be appreciated for that),  we will have some cake and ice cream for dessert,  and there will be both soft drinks and adult beverage available.  Tom – WB8LCD will present a short presentation with some information and stories regarding the Birth of PCARS!
Come on out and make it a PARTY!
On another topic, from your secretary, I need you to send me your Birth Year.  With our latest addition to the PCARS Constitution and By-Laws, there is a special class of life membership for members who have attained the age of 75 (and who have been a PCARS member for at least 5 consecutive years).  To accurately track that we need your full date of birth, not just the day and month as we have collected in the past.  You can send that to me at  tomsly29@gmail.com
Thanks!  Hope to see you on the 26th, and hear you on the nets.
