Net Night at the Club

Thursday February 28 is Net Night at the Club Site! Doors open at 6:30PM until 10 – 10:30 PM. You can check into the PCARS net from the club site. You can work HF from the club site. You can bring your projects along with you to work on or troubleshoot a the club site!
What I am asking everyone to do is make this a “bring your rig” night. As a testament to Jim – KC8PD (sk) – one of the PCARS Founders and prior PCARS President. Jim organized “bring your rig” night as one of our earlier club meeting topics and it was a very interesting evening, which has not been repeated since!
It doesn’t have to be a “rig” – it can be any piece of Amateur Radio related equipment, Special QSL Card, Operating Award, or what have you? Something of special significance in your ham radio experience.
Yes, bring snacks too!
I hope to see you there and I hope you will consider coming out even if you don’t normally come to net night. You will have an opportunity to learn something about your fellow PCARS members!

Carole Perry Flier

Click Here for a two-page flier regarding the March PCARS meeting. Please, send this, along with a short note to anyone, and everyone you know in the education business (teachers, administrators, bus drivers, school board members) and invite them to our meeting. WE Have Room For Them All!
We will make sure that our club meeting and 50/50 are kept short. We plan to have Carole begin at exactly 8:00PM, so if anyone does not want to sit through our meeting, they can show up at 7:45 and skip that portion of the evening.

Educator of the Year Award

Congratulations to Amateur Radio educator Carole Perry, WB2MGP, the first recipient of the newly established “Carole Perry Educator of the Year Award” presented by 2019 Orlando HamCation.
The award, to be given annually in Perry’s name, recognizes outstanding dedication in educating and advancing today’s youth about #HamRadio.
A fellow and director of the Radio Club of America (RCA), Perry is a past Dayton Hamvention Ham of the Year and a recipient of the ARRL Instructor of the Year Award. Pioneer Bus Trip to Hamvention

It is never too early to plan a trip to Hamvention. Each year the Pioneer Amateur Radio Fellowship has offered to bus hams to this great event. The bus leaves at 5:30 AM the Saturday of Hamvention, stops at McDonald’s for breakfast, arrives at Hamvention about 9, leaves about 5 and stops at a buffet for supper. You arrive back at the pickup point about 9:30. It is also convenient that the bus has very large storage areas for all you purchases.
Some of us have taken this bus. In my case, it has always been a lot of fun. If you Click Here, you will find the flier and the form used to register for this trip.
