Latest RTTY Contest OP Sked Saturday February 29th

I just want to make sure that everyone who wants to participate in this Saturday’s contest understands that even though it may appear that almost all operating slots are taken, we can adjust some to 1 hr op times or shorter so as to accommodate all who show up. So don’t stay away thinking that everything is filled.

PCARS Thursday Night 2 Meter Net Tonight at 8 PM

Join us tonight at 8 PM for the PCARS 2 Meter Net. This is a great time to exchange news and comments with other PCARS members. The net meets on 146.895 with a PL Tone of 118.8. Contact can also be made using EchoLink and the K8SRR-R node.
Also, if you are interested in helping with this net, consider becoming Net Control. It is a lot of fun and an easy skill to learn. Just let me know if you are interested.

Operating Schedule for RTTY Contest this Saturday February 29th

Attention PCARS Contesters:
At yesterday’s DX/Contest Special Interest Group meeting, George, K3GP, gave those present a nice, concise instruction on operating RTTY. The turnout was great with 16 attending the meeting. When we asked for a show of hands of those who were going to come and operate during the NA QSO Party RTTY mode contest, we had 14 raise their hands.
After the meeting, we realized that if everyone shows up at one time, we will have a lot of ops just sitting, twiddling their thumbs. We don’t want to see anyone not be able to operate and we don’t want to see potential ops get disappointed and leave.
So I am asking those who raised their hands and those who did not make the meeting but want to operate, to let me know when they would like to come and operate. We have 12 hours to work the contest starting at 1PM. We have two operating stations available. I’m going to be arbitrary here and say that we need to hold the op time to 2 hour shifts at most knowing that some will work only an hour. That should allow at least the 14 ops already intending to be there, to operate. If more show up, then we will adjust. I want to make sure that everyone gets a satisfactory amount of time to operate.
I’m hoping that everyone will go along with this schedule. Please email me (chuckw8pt@gmail.com) a time or times when you would like to operate. I will attempt to create a schedule that I hope will satisfy all.
George also mentioned that for those who did not make the meeting but want to come and operate, there will be a separate op position set up for the training that you missed.
I plan to send this announcement out a few times between now and Saturday to make sure that everyone gets a chance to respond. Thanks for your cooperation. Frankly, it’s a nice problem to have when you have a lot of folks wanting to operate during our contesting events.
