Attention PCARS Contesters

Here’s someone to watch for:

A picture being worth a thousand words or so, here’s the planned K8MR/M OhQP route. We will start in Cleveland and end in Springfield. It is a weather dependent route – driver K3LA and I are planning to ride the Ohio-Lake Erie bike trail out of Springfield on Sunday, but should weather forecasts say otherwise, we’ll instead head home on Saturday night, heading from Pickaway county (south of Columbus) north on I-71.

PCARS Contesters:

Here’s an interesting notice.

NZ8R has a plane and is considering flying over all 88 counties in the Ohio QSO Party.
There are still a number of logistics to work out.
We need a radio operator and a small HF radio.
The plane will be based in Delaware, OH.
Any volunteers?

PCARS Members:
The OH QSO Party is coming up on August 22. I remind those of you who are using Scotty N3FJP’s contest logging software, that you need to download the latest version of the Ohio QSOParty log.
Furthermore, Please make sure that when you are filling out your Cabrillo log to send in that you put down Portage County Amateur Radio Service as your club affiliation. Please use the entire name.
Also, A reminder that the Ohio QSO Party is from noon till midnight EDT. There will be lots of activity from Ohio and in spite of Covid there will be several mobile operations taking place plus home stations, EOC stations and rovers.
Also the State QSO Party Challenge is going on full bore so your score counts TWICE once for OHQP and once for the Challenge!
Info here for Challenge: http://stateqsoparty.com/

Ohio QSO Party

A note from Scott N3FJP regarding his logging software:
Scott notes that his “Ohio QSO Party Contest Logs (In State 4.4 and Out of State 4.3) have been updated for the rule change to include 160 meters.”
I suggest that if you are going to use N3FJP State QSO Software to log during the contest, please download the updated OH QSO Party software from his site.
