April 9, 2018 meeting: Held at The American Legion Post 496, 1945 Mogadore Rd., Kent, OH 44240. Opened by President Jim Wilson – AC8NT at 7:00 PM.Jim introduced our evenings speaker, Jim Storms – AB8YK from the Dave Kalter Memorial Youth DX Adventure, and then gave time for all visitors to be introduced

Open House/Tower Dedication/VHF/UHF radio room dedication to Jim Aylward KC8PD Saturday 4/21 Net Night at the Club Site Thursday 4/26
Jim – AC8NT and Tom – WB8LCD presented Jim – AB8YK with a $500 donation to the YDXA trip from PCARS.
Vice-President’s Report – Tony – WA8AR
Field Day Food this year will be catered by Guido’s of Ravenna, Donations to FD will be appreciated. We need a Transportation Crew Chief
Meal Tickets will be necessary for Field day meals – Dinner is free to members, $5 for guests. Sunday Breakfast tickets will be $1 for everyone. Get tickets from Club Secretary – Tom WB8LCD and/or Club Treasurer – Amy KD8SKL

One new membership application for Marla DiGiammarino – KE8GBL– a Tech from Mantua. Motion to accept passed unanimously.
Special Interest Groups DX/Contesting – Chuck – W8PT
We operated Multi/Multi in the FL QSO Party.
In the Idaho QSO Party we scored #1 Multi in the USA. Certificates were passed out to those who participated. In the OH QSO party we scored 62,400+ points to finish #9 in Ohio and #1 in Portage County. Certificates were passed out to those who participated.
Digital – Rick – K8CAV – next meeting will be covering FLDigi which will be used for Field Day. George – K3GP talked about our first entry into a RTTY
Contest – we finished 2nd in Ohio and 25th in the USA!
QRP – Terry – KB8AMZ – will be working on the WA8UWV code practice oscillator which will cost $5.
Antennas – Tony – WA8AR – NEC2 Antenna software
PCARS Thursday Night 2-meter Net – Greg – KA8TOA – Awarded Net Check In certificates to KC3JXQ, KD8ZSH, N8XTH and KD8SOP.
Rick – K8CAV – talked about EMCOMM and the Portage County Communications Unit. As always, volunteers are appreciated and needed. Skywarn training will be this Thursday at the Maplewood Career Center.
There was a motion from Rick – K8CAV to close the meeting, seconded by Bob – K8FEY – and passed unanimously. The meeting was closed at approximately 7:55 PM.
The 50/50 was won by N8QE – $135.00
The evenings presentation was given by Jim Storm – AB8YK – on this years YDXA trip to PJ2T.
