We are going to do a LIMITED opening of the Club Site for operating on the 2020 highly modified Field Day. We are doing this primarily to give members that do not have home HF Stations the chance to work some HF FD contacts. However any member can apply to operate. Operating slots will be given out on a first come first served basis. We will have three IC 7300 transceivers available to operate Voice, CW, or Digital modes.  All operators will use their own call sign (NOT K8BF), class 1D. Since we are still under COVID-19 restrictions there will be a number of safety rules. All rules must be followed and I will be there to assist operators and assure that safety protocols are followed. If you wish to operate FD from the club site send me an email with the time(s) you want and I will prepare a schedule and get it back to you as soon as possible. Please request operating times in a minimum of 2 hour blocks. Ask for as much time as you want and I will distribute operating slots throughout the 24 hours of FD.
Rules:
  • Masks will be required as all times when operating and at all times in the radio room. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Gloves are not required and Radios will not be sterilized. So wash your hands BEFORE & AFTER touching equipment. AND keep your fingers away from your faces and eyes.
  • PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE CLUB SITE IF YOU HAVE A FEVER; ANY COVID 19 SYMPTOMS OR KNOW THAT YOU HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO AN INFECTED PERSON ANYTIME IN THE PREVIOUS TWO WEEKS. You will be asked health questions upon entering.
  • Observe proper “social distancing”, when not operating, please leave the club site.
  • All operators will sanitize the operating area (not the radios) before and after operating, supplies will be provided for this.
  • Only operators will be allowed in the club site radio room. No Visitors.
  • For Voice modes, operators may bring their own headsets or use the club supplied microphones. ALL operators should, at a minimum, bring their own headphones. Use of speakers will not be practical, and not permitted when multiple stations are in use.
  • Paper masks (surgical) are light enough that they should not interfere with the use of microphones.
  • For logging you must bring your own laptop or use a paper log.
  • CW operators should supply their own key, and headphones (some keys and keyers are available at the club site but NO Headphones).
  • For Digital modes, club computers will be set up to run the IC 7300’s for all common digital modes. Your laptop will only be needed for logging (not needed for paper logs).
  • All ops will provide their own food and beverage as desired. No food will be provided by PCARS.
So, if you are a member of PCARS and want to operate from the Club Radio Room during the regular 24 hour period of ARRL Field day let me know the hours you would like to operate (in 2 hour blocks) and I will see how many of you that we can schedule in. Contact me at tromito99@gmail.comScheduling will be on a first come-first-served basis. Remember all operations from the club site will be class 1D. The contacts will go toward the Portage County Amatuer Radio Service aggregate club score. Contacts made from their own home, portable or mobile stations will also be included in the PCARS aggregate club score simply by filing their log and showing the full club name on that log.
