I can’t wait for 2020 to be over! It’s certainly been a challenging year, especially for a club like PCARS. All “in-person” activities have been drastically curtailed. And for those that continued, attendance and participation levels have been way down. Virtual meetings have replaced most in person ones as we have tried to keep our membership involved and active in the hobby. Right now, the future seems undetermined. We seem to be living in a world of Chaos. If all we can do is react to the circumstances around us, we will spend the rest of our lives living in fear. It’s time to be bold and courageous, living within the circumstances that surround us, but determining for ourselves how we will live our lives and spend our time on this planet.
As depressing as 2020 has been, I am choosing to look at 2021 as a year of great opportunity, especially for a club like PCARS. I am thrilled to see the new officers that will be taking over on January 1st, and I know that they will not be reacting to, but will be PROACTIVE in providing a Ham Radio Club program that will be second to none. I’m looking forward to PCARS being a leader in the Ham Radio hobby not only in 2021 but for years to come.
The first step you can take to being a part of the upcoming year is to renew your dues. As you know, this must be done prior to December 31st to maintain your current membership number. Starting on January 1st, all applications will be treated as NEW membership applications, subject to the $5 initiation fee and the assignment of a new membership number, after being voted on at the following meeting.  We would like to have all renewals processed electronically, but, if you prefer, please print out the membership form, make any updates necessary so that we can keep our database current, and mail it back to the club address, listed on the bottom of the form. If you go to the club website – www.portcars.org – you’ll find the information in the upper right had corner of the homepage.
I’m looking forward to participating in as many PCARS events as possible in 2021 – both virtual, and as soon as practical “in person”. I’ll look forward to seeing you there too!
73,
Tom WB8LCD – PCARS President
