
Each year, on the Saturday following Labor Day, operators from all over have fun activating Ohio state parks.
OSPOTA was the first State Parks On The Air contest in the US, and serves as the example that other states have followed.
We give awards to the winning In & Out of Park stations.

On any given day, you can find operators activating Parks, forests, & historic sites throughout Ohio, and the country.
If you are interested in checking out this activity, There are currently two separate Groups maintaining databases, and awards systems. Neither are affiliated with the Portage County Amateur Radio Service, but are a fun way to enjoy a afternoon on the bands. They are:
