On Saturday, September 30th at 9 AM we will be having a build day focused on using Arduino microcomputers. Many ham radio projects use a programmed Arduino as a component. Most of the published projects have software already written. The builder needs to know how to make minor software modifications to the program (As an example, adding your call sign or QTH) and load the software into the microcomputer. That is what this build is all about.

A kit will be available containing an Arduino Nano, programming cable, small prototyping board, digital display, and jumper wires. The cost of the kit is $20. As part of the build, we will be assembling a small project; making a few modifications to the supplied software; and downloading the software into the Nano. It should be fun.

I need to know by this Friday, September 15^th if you would like to attend. This will provide the time to receive components and collect the kits. If interested, send an email to AC8NT@j3solutions.com.

The next PCARS Flex Net will be held on Wednesday, September 13th at 8:00 PM. This month’s net will be a Digital-Only net using the MFSK-16 mode, on 10 meters. Tune your transceiver’s dial frequency to 28.118 MHz and center the MFSK-16 cursors at 1,500 Hz on the waterfall.

As this is a digital-only net, we will be using prosigns and Q signals to streamline net operations. The Digital Special Interest Group meeting on September 5th will be reviewing these procedures, and there is also a file named Flex-Net-Digital-Opertions.pdf on the PCARS groups.io site, here: https://groups.io/g/PCARS/files

Our monthly meeting will feature Hans Summers presenting on his new QMX rig all the way from Turkey. This will be a great opportunity for those who have or plan to have a QMX to ask questions and hear a presentation on the technology used in this great kit.
