Antenna SIG Tuesday Sept. 16th @ 7PM

Greetings everyone,

Tomorrow we will be having our Antenna SIG starting at 7 PM at PCARS World HQ. We will not be doing this by Zoom this month. We will be outside running some experiments, so Zoom is useless. Please try to come out for this meeting.

Jim, AC8NT

Washington State Salmon Run Sept. 20-21

PCARS Contesters and Friends of PCARS:

Here’s a heads up: Our Black Squirrel Contest Group will be putting K8BF on the air the weekend Sept. 20-21 (that’s next weekend) participating in the Washington State Salmon Run. That’s their state QSO Party.

The event runs from 1600UTC on Saturday to 0700UTC (Noon until 3AM) on Sunday and then there is a break. The contest then continues from 1600UTC on Sunday until it finishes at 2400UTC (Noon until 8PM) Sunday evening. So this is a 23 hr contest. It is a CW/Pho only contest. Sorry, no FT8 or any digital at all.

We will be entering in the “Unlimited” category. It’s the one that allows Multi op/Multi transmitter entries. I would like to see a couple of CW ops, in addition to our regular pho ops, join us so that we can make a very good showing in this contest.

We will be gathering, starting around 10am on Saturday to review the rules. Hope to see a lot of you at the club site for this event.

Burundi – 9U1RU

PCARS DXers:

Just wanted to drop a note reminding you that an 11 member team of experienced DXpedition ops will be leaving for their 20-day operation to Burundi. I know that this is a little ways off yet, but it’s never too early to put it on your calendar. The team will arrive in Burundi on October 30th and tentative plans call for stations being QRV on October 31 until November 20.

OSPOTA This Weekend – Join Us at Wingfoot Lake!

This weekend is the Ohio State Parks On The Air (OSPOTA) contest, and PCARS will be operating from Wingfoot Lake State Park in Suffield. Everyone is welcome to stop by, say hello, and get on the air!

Contest Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Setup Begins: 8:00 AM
Food: Hot dogs and plenty of snacks will be available

This year’s event includes CW, so we’ll have two stations running. If you enjoy Morse code, bring your favorite CW key and jump in.

OSPOTA is a low-stress, friendly contest—perfect if you’d like to try contesting for the first time or just have some casual radio fun.

We’ll be at the Buckeye Pavilion (the first pavilion on your right as you enter the park) and plan to stay until about 7:00 PM.

For more details about OSPOTA, visit https://ospota.org.
Hope to see you there!

73,
DE WG8X
