Vice President’s report to the Club Tom WB8LCD
Rather than take up a lot of time at the meeting tonight, I wanted to get this information out to you so that you would have it in writing!
PCARS WEBSITE Have you taken a look at the PCARS website lately? It’s a treasure trove of valuable information regarding all things PCARS! I wan to point out the PCARS Calendar – this IS our primary tool for planning, and scheduling for all PCARS events and activities. If you’re going to plan an event or activity, please make sure you won’t conflict with any other activities. If you are planning, or cancelling and event or activity – PLEASE get it posted by sending an email to John wg8x.radio@gmail.com and/or myself at vicepresident@portcars.org . Please make sure to give us enough information to make the posting complete. Before planning any MAJOR events or activities please notify Greg at president@pcars.org so it can be discussed and approved by the PCARS board.
Also, please note that in the PAYMENTS AND DONATIONS tab on the home page, a button has been added for the RCA Youth Forum at Hamvention and soon another button will be added for the David Kalter Youth DX Association’s 2026 youth DXpedition. PCARS has pledged $500 donations to each of these organizations. We ask for your individual donations through the club to come through these buttons. PCARS will add from club funds to make sure that both donations meet or exceed the $500 pledge. Please donate GENEROUSLY!
If you are a SIG Leader, or the point person on any other activity, it is your responsibility to send out QST’s to the membership announcing the activity and also reminding the membership of the upcoming activity / net / event so that PCARS is always “top of mind” for our members!
World Amateur Radio Day is April 18, 2026 Let me know if you would like to do an operating event / open house for the community and we can get something going for that.
Tonight’s speaker is Mike Martin – K3RFI. You can check out his website at https://rfiservices.com/ This will be a “down to earth” presentation on things you can do to lower the noise level at your location. You can’t work em if you can’t hear em! I hope to see you there in person.
Still working on presenters for April / May / June – I’ll let you know the details as soon as possible.
