The next Antenna Special Interest Group meeting will be held Tuesday January 21st at 7 PM. The plan was to have the meeting at PCARS World Headquarters. However, the weather for Tuesday shows extreme cold with potential temperatures below zero. Not a good day to travel. I am holding the meeting on Zoom for the safety of members.

The Zoom information is below. I will be starting the meeting promptly at 7 PM on Zoom. I would love to meet at the club, but this is likely to be one of this winters worst days. Have your questions ready and we will be discussing future meeting content.

Hi POTA fans (and other radio enthusiasts)!

This Saturday, January 18, 2025, we will be at Wingfoot Lake SP from 10:00am to 3:00pm – set up will be 9:00am (a few will be earlier, 8:30am-ish).

At our Tuesday POTA SIG meeting, we set everything (hopefully!) for cups, bowls, spoons, napkins, etc. Looks like we will have smoked oyster stew, sauerkraut/pork or sausage, hot cocoa, coffee (Puerto Rican coffee – thanks Mike!), and more.

The tents and heaters are ready. The weather will be LESS COLD than last year, but could have some snow/ice/rain/crud. Well, it’s January in northeast Ohio – we know the drill! Just be careful on the road.

Stop by for the whole duration, for a few hours, or even for a few minutes. We would love to see you!

The Portage County Parks District will be holding its 2025 Headwaters Adventure Race on Saturday June 7th and has again asked for assistance in providing communications on the course. The event consists of a 2-mile run, followed by a 10-mile bike ride, followed by a 5 mile canoe ride. The race starts at 8:00 AM and is finished at approximately 12:30 PM.

Greeting POTA fans!

Our next meeting of the POTA SIG will be in Tuesday 1/14/25 7:00pm at PCARS World Headquarters in Ravenna.
The main topic will be our Winter POTA “ParkPedition” on Saturday 1/18/25, 10:00am-3:00pm. We have tents, heaters, food, etc but want to discuss details and other ideas. Your input is very welcome and appreciated!

Please join us for the first PCARS meeting of 2025 on Monday January 13th at the American Legion post 496 located at 1945 Mogadore Rd. Kent, OH 44240. The meeting starts at 7:00PM sharp!

For our first meeting of the new year we will welcome Mr. Hal Turley – W8HC of St Albans, WV. Hal is a world class Dxpeditioner, recently participating from N5J – Jarvis Island in August of 2024; CB0ZA – Robinson Crusoe Island in February of 2024 and E51D – North Cook Island in July of 2023 (among others!).

In February 2025 Hal will be participating in the TI1RRC; YN6RRC; H7RRC and 3F3RRC Central American RRC Tour: https://www.qrz.com/db/TI1RRC .

Most of us will never get the opportunity to hear the “pile-up” as the rare DX station being called – HAL will give you an idea of what it’s like being on that end of the QSO and what it takes to get there, and back home!
