Hello PCARS Contesters & DXers:

We will be meeting on Tuesday, July 25th at 7PM at PCARS World HQ.

Our main topic will be the upcoming Ohio QSO Party that takes place at the end of August. That is also when we have our BBQ Open House. So we will be able to show off our Operations Room and maybe put a few new people on the air. But there will be a group of contests that weekend. And some of you may want to take part in a few or all of them.

When we get together, we’ll want to discuss how we can accommodate those who would like to keep K8BF on the air and work some of these other events. The Islands QSO Party looks interesting if there are any actually being activated.

July has gone FAST and is just about over. That means it is time for gathering inputs for the August issue of the PCARS newsletter – The RADIOGRAM!
Inputs for the August 2023 issue of The RADIOGRAM are due on Friday July 28th at 8pm. (as always – the last Friday of the month).
Help keep the newsletter interesting to all by sending in your article for the PCARS newsletter. And, don’t forget the in-focus, large format photos as well!!!
Let all of PCARS know what projects or ham operations are keeping you busy.

Hi EVERYONE

Please join us for some good conversation on the world famous PCARS Thursday Night Net. It is held at 8:00 PM local time on the 146.895 repeater with a negative offset and a PL tone of 118.8. Contact is also available via the K8BF-L EchoLink node. We always have interesting club and other amateur radio news.

Remember you can get a good looking certificate if you attend 10 consecutive Thursday Night Nets.

I am always looking for net control operators. It is not as hard as you think and we have a very forgiving crowd of hams that visit our nets. If interested, let me know.

Here is a word from Tim Duffy regarding the 2024 Hamvention.

K3LR notes room reservations for the Hope Hotel for Hamvention week
2024 open tomorrow, July 18, at 9 AM EDT. Tim says do not call before
that time. You can get room reservations by telephone only. If you
try to book online you will see there are no rooms available for
those dates. Every room in the hotel has been blocked for contesters
and DXers for Hamvention week. The phone number is 937-879-2696 and
ask for a reservation for the Contest University 2024 room block.
There is no minimum night commitment. The rate is $152 plus tax and
includes a hot buffet breakfast every day. The rate is the same for a
single queen, two queens, or a single king with a pullout.

There will be free pizza parties all four nights and a cash bar will be available. They are inviting all DXers and Contesters.

The next Flex Net will take place on Wednesday July 19th at 8:00 PM. This month the net will meet on 70 cm, 446.150 MHz SIMPLEX, FM Phone no PL Tone or Tone Squelch. This is a great opportunity for everyone to evaluate their UHF station and antennas and to garner more PCARS member QSL cards for the PCARS A to Z award. I hope to hear you there!
