Saturday, August 26th, 2023 is this year’s Ohio QSO Party and the PCARS BBQSO Party and Open House! This is a great event where you can operate with our contest group and enjoy a meal with your ham radio friends.

The club will provide beverages, burgers, brats, buns, and condiments. Everyone is encouraged to bring snacks or a side dish to share.

Contest set up starts at 10 AM – Contest starts at Noon and ops will continue until midnight (12-hour contest). Food will be served around 2:00 pm.

The Antenna SIG meetings are open to all PCARS members and guests. All ham radio operators or anyone interested in Amateur Radio are also welcome to attend.

We will be discussing all aspects of antenna design, construction, test equipment, and experimentation. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion, and talk about their antennas.

I know that November is months away. However, some issues need a lot of lead time to resolve. Nick, AC8QG and I will not be running for any offices in November. We will continue to actively support PCARS, but we can’t commit to the time required for an officer’s position. PCARS needs people to step up for President, Vice President and One Year Trustee.

The President and Vice President positions often require a lot of work. These positions require a commitment of time not just for meetings and events, but to support all the behind the scenes activities. Nick and I can tell you it can also be very rewarding.

In the past we have had a difficult time getting people to run for these offices. That is why we are starting our recruitment early. If you are interested in one of these positions, please let Nick or me know. PCARS is an outstanding club, but it does require the support of its members to continue to be great.

We’re just a few days away from our next PCARS meeting! Join us Monday, August 14th at American Legion Post 496 on Mogadore Rd in Kent. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM sharp!

We will be joined by two candidates running for ARRL Great Lakes Division Director! Scott Yonally N8SY and Michael Kalter W8CI will share their vision for our division and take time for questions and answers!

I encourage everyone to bring their thoughts, complaints, concerns, and questions! Please share this information far and wide! All are welcome to join us in person or by Zoom!
