Replay for Kids work session

Please join us Tuesday April 29 2025 at the club site 705 Oakwood St Ravenna for another fun session fixing toys for Replay for Kids.

Replay for Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to modifying and maintaining toys so that kids with severe disabilities are able to have toys to play with. They design modified actuators for battery-operated toys so they can be operated with large buttons rather than small switches, and they also make other modifications to toys so they are usable for the kids. Naturally toys in use get damaged, so that’s where we come in. We generally do some mechanical repairs or soldering of battery leads and some electrical troubleshooting.

This session we also have toys that need sewing skills and a sewing machine, Please call Rick at 216 509-4182 if you or a friend have sewing skills and can bring a sewing machine to this work session. I think we just need 1 machine.

We plan to be all set up by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, so please come down to the club any time that’s convenient for you and we’ll work until 9 or as long as people want to stick around.

It’s always a fun time and it’s work for a good cause. Replay is very appreciative of the work we have done in the past.

If you’ve never contributed to The Radiogram or if it’s been a while, now is the best time to submit something.

The 2024 Florida QSO Party (FQP) begins this weekend on Saturday, April 26th and concludes on Sunday, April 27th. There are two 10-hour operating periods separated by a 10 hour break.

Saturday (Noon EDT) til Saturday Night (9:59:59PM EDT)

Sunday (8AM EDT) to (5:59:59 PM EDT)

Special 2024 FQP Spelling Bee info: They will have a total of 12 special 1×1 stations whose suffixes spell PIRATES. There will be two stations per suffix. Contact at least one station of each suffix letter spelling PIRATES to earn this award. Many of these stations will be on both modes and should be very accessible. QSL these 1×1 calls active in FQP via KU9C direct or via LogBook ofThe World (LoTW).

We should gather an hour earlier (11AM) on Saturday to review rules one more time and to answer any other questions or issues. I hope to see many of you there. And for those who want to find out what contesting is all about, I encourage you to come out. We can even give you some on the spot training, if you wish.

Hello PCARS DXers & Contesters:

One More reminder that the DX/Contesting Special Interest Group meeting will take place Tuesday evening, April 22nd at 7PM at our World Famous headquarters.

Among our topics of discussion will be the Florida QSO Party that takes place April 26-27. We will be going over the Rules one more time and how we will be operating for this contests. We will also discuss any other topic(s) that members bring up including upcoming contests in May.

As always, the meeting will be available on ZOOM. So I hope to see a lot of members either in person or on ZOOM.
