PJ2Y – Youth DX Adventure

PJ2Y – Curacao

The Dave Kalter Memorial Youth DX Adventure, a team of four young ops, callsign PJ2Y for this one, arrive on the island the afternoon of July 17.

They might be on the air as early as that evening, but full operating should be underway on Friday, July 18 through Monday, July 21. Return to the US is Tuesday, July 22.

They plan SSB and CW with “FT8 a maybe.” Limitations on what gear they can take, how much room in their luggage, is a factor on that. They are setting up Club Log for the trip and will have special QSL cards afterwards.

They encourage multiple contacts on the same band and mode for their “WAK,” “Worked all Kids” award. If it’s a different voice or you can otherwise tell it’s a different one of the four youth, give ’em a QSO. They may be on the WARC 1979 bands, 30, 17 and 12, also. Some of the four ops are “very good already.” Otherwise, use patience with them.

They thank the Caribbean Contesting Consortium for use of the station and DL8OBQ “for taking vacation time and spending $$$ to be the station host,” and DARA, the Dayton Amateur Radio Association, as the major funding club.
