Hello PCARS Contesters & DXers:

Just a friendly reminder that we will be holding our first DX/Contesting Special Interest Group meeting of 2024, next Tuesday evening, January 23, at 7PM at PCARS World HQ.

Our main topic will be choosing the 2024 Contest Schedule. We will discuss and make plans on how we will set up the operating positions for the various contests and discuss any special aspects of certain contests that are chosen. Those who will want to operate this year, please plan on attending. This will be your chance to get your input heard.

I hope to see many of you there or attending by ZOOM.

The Antenna SIG meetings are open to all PCARS members and guests. All ham radio operators or anyone interested in Amateur Radio are also welcome to attend.

We will be discussing all aspects of antenna design, construction, test equipment, and experimentation. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion, and talk about their antenna related projects with the group.

The next PCARS Flex Net will be held on Wednesday January 10th at 8:00 PM.

The net will be held on 160 meters Phone on LSB. Based on monitoring over the past 6 days we will start the net on 1852 kHz, but if there are QSO’s taking place at or very near we will adjust up or down to prevent QRM. Listen for K8BF calling the net. I hope to hear you there!

Our next portable operations SIG will be coming up this Tuesday on January 9th at 7:00 PM.

You’ve heard about this in Brandon’s article, but we’ll be talking about the upcoming ParkPedition at Wingfoot Lake SP. This is coming up on January 20th.

We’ll also be talking about the upcoming VHF Simplex Contest that is coming up the same day as our Parkpedition.
