PCARS is an ARRL Affiliated, Special Services Club. We are a group of Amateur Radio hobbyists located in Portage County, Ohio who believe that the whole point of being in the hobby of Amateur Radio is to have fun with it. Whether you are a new ham or an “old timer”, PCARS has something to offer you. The PCARS monthly meeting is held the second Monday of each month and the meetings start at 7:00 PM. This Thursday, October 30th, is NET NIGHT at the CLUBSITE. As previously noted, this will be our last Net NIght at the Clubsite for 2025 due to the Holiday net schedules in November and December.
Doors will open approximately 6:30 PM and we’ll have something to eat at 7:00. Please bring some snacks / sides to share with the group! We’ll close up probably around 9:30 – 10:00 (Hey! Some of us have to work in the morning!)
I invite EVERYONE to check into the PCARS net regardless of whether you are a PCARS member (or not) and you can check in from home on the K8IV repeater (146.895 – 118.8PL) or on the K8BF-L Echolink Node.
We’re closing in on the end of the “20 for 20” Net Check-in event so I’ll have some updates on how everyone is doing. Hope to see you there or hear you on the net!

This Saturday at Camp Manatoc we will be setting up to support Scouting’s Jamboree on the Air. We would like to have a couple of stations setup to help as many Scouts as possible experience Amateur Radio. Last year our club took part in the event and everyone had a great time.
Did you know Camp Manatoc is in the POTA Cuyahoga Valley National Park site?. Last year Mike KP4VZ used POTA CQ to provide some great contacts for the Scouts.
The event runs from about 9 AM until 4 PM. We also plan to demonstrate antenna construction and have some Fox Hunts.
If interested please let me know. I need a list to determine our level of support. Please consider supporting this event.
